Genus. in 1935 in Vladivostok; Russian; worked as a laboratory assistant at the State Union Design Bureau for Analytical Instrumentation. Lived in Leningrad. Arrested 05/24/1957 for participation in the underground group "Union of Communists". Sentenced by the Leningrad City Court on September 19, 1957 under Art. 58-10 hours 1, 58-11 for 10 years of labor camp. Contained in the Mordovian camps No. 7-1, No. 7, No. 14, No. 3, No. 17. By the Decree of the PVS of the RSFSR of March 16, 1960, the period was reduced to 5 years. Released 05/24/1962, returned to Leningrad. He graduated from the evening department of the Pedagogical Institute. Herzen (English, 1966). After his release, he worked as a bibliographer, translator of technical literature, literary editor, author of simultaneous texts in films, dubbing director.In the 1960-1980s. - member of the dissident movement. In 1984, he was fired from the Lenfilm film studio. In 1993-1995 worked as an assistant to the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mikhail Molostov. In 1994-1997 - Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg organization of the party "Democratic Choice of Russia". In 1991-1996 Co-chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of the human rights society "Memorial". Co-founder (1992) and chairman (since 1992) of the public human rights organization "Civil Control". Member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation to promote the development of civil society institutions and human rights (from 2004 to June 2012) Died 03/04/2014.
