Genus. in 1923 in Kyiv, Jew. After school in 1940 entered the Faculty of Chemistry of Leningrad State University. From the beginning of the war he worked as a topographer in special construction, then in a hospital. In April 1942 together with Leningrad State University, he was evacuated to Saratov. In 1942 mobilized in May 1944 After being wounded (lost his arm), he was demobilized. Reinstated at Leningrad State University, 1st year student at the Faculty of Physics. Lived in Leningrad, Skorokhodova str., 18, apt. 54. Arrested on March 17, 1945. Charged under Article 58-10, Part 2 and 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR as a member of an anti-Soviet group. Sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the NKVD troops of the Leningrad Region on May 18-19, 1945. by 10 years of ITL. By decree of the head of the KGB under the Council of Ministers of the USSR for the Leningrad Region dated 05.08.1955. case against Gliner E.B. terminated on the basis of Article 4, Clause 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the RSFSR, he was rehabilitated. He served time in the Kresty prison in a local closed design bureau. Since September 1945 in OKB-172, senior engineer in the calculation and research group and in the group of Professor I.V. Tokov, in 1949. head of research work N-3-05, in 1950 executor of the theoretical part of research work N-4-09. For these works he received copyright certificate No. 13709. In June 1952. transferred to special prison No. 3, post office box 132 (Moscow), from August 1953. in OTB-1 of Yeniseistroy (Krasnoyarsk). Released in April 1954, he returned to Leningrad. Senior technician, head of department OKB-43 (04/16/1955-05/31/1961). After graduating from Leningrad State University in 1963. employee of the technical department of the Physicotechnical Institute (work on the general theory of relativity and relativistic astronomy). In May 1972 defended his dissertation at the university in Tartu, where he was opposed by A.D. Sakharov. Acquaintance and contacts with Sakharov complicated his scientific activities in Leningrad. In 1980 emigrated with his family to the USA, worked at the Institute for Theoretical Research in San Francisco, since 1990. retired.
