Yavorsky Vasily Nikolaevich
Head of the Faculty of the Budyonny Military Electrical Engineering Academy (1937), Head of the Electrical Engineering Department of OKB No. 884 (P.O. Box 691) in 1956.
Born in 1901 in the Yelisavetgrad district of the Kherson province. From 1916 he lived in Odessa. In 1917-1919 he worked as a milling machine operator, studied at an evening school. From 1919 in the Red Army, studied at the Kyiv Military Engineering Courses, then at the Kazan Military Engineering Courses. Graduated from the Military Electrical Engineering Academy (Zagorsk, 1927), taught at the Military Engineering Academy in Leningrad, at the military department of LETI. In 1927-1932 - head of the laboratory at the scientific and technical engineering range of the Military Engineering Directorate of the Red Army, as well as in the scientific and technical committee of the Military Engineering Directorate. Since 1932, head of the faculty of the Military Electrical Engineering Academy named after Budyonny, candidate of technical sciences (1934). Arrested on September 8, 1937. Sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the Leningrad Military District under Article 58-10 to 10 years in a labor camp. In prison - in Knyazhpogost, in Sevzheldorlag (1938-1940), from March 1940 he was transferred to the design bureau at the Kirov Plant to implement the coastal artillery project. In the summer of 1941 he was evacuated to the Molotov plant in Motovilikha, was engaged in design, participated in the production and testing of the M-42 infantry anti-tank gun. In December 1944 he was transferred to Leningrad to OKB-172 ("Kresty"), head of the tracking drive design group. Arrested again in July 1949, sentenced to lifelong exile in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In 1950-1955 - engineer of the design office of the Norilsk Combine. Released in 1955, returned to Leningrad. Worked as head of department in OKB-42 (1955-1959). From 1959 - professor, head of department in LVMI, from 1961 - doctor of technical sciences. Died in 1987.
