Chizhevsky Ivan Stanislavovich

Born in 1897 in the village of Balchunishki ( Poeziorsk gmina), Volkovysh district , Suwalki province (Lithuania); education - incomplete two-year Kozlovo-Rudskoye railway school; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) since July 1918.   In March 1918 he volunteered for the Red Army. In 1919-1926 he worked in the Revolutionary Military Tribunal of the Petrograd Military District, the Turkestan Front, and the Caspian Military Flotilla. In 1926 he was discharged from the army. In 1926-1934 he was a people's judge of the city of Leningrad. In 1934 he was called up for military service. In 1934-1937 he was the chairman of the tribunal for river transport of the Amur Basin, and in 1937-1938 a member of the board of the Military Tribunal of the Leningrad Military District. He was arrested on 17 June 1938. He was held under investigation in the Kresty prison. He was expelled from the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) on 7 October 1938. He was sentenced on 19 April 1941 by a resolution of the Special Security Department of the NKVD of the USSR under Art. 58-1b ("treason committed by a serviceman") to 8 years of imprisonment. According to the death certificate, he died on 27.10.1943 in prison (Pechora, Komi ASSR). He was rehabilitated on 01.06.1966 by the decision of the Leningrad Military District Military Tribunal. The decision to expel him from the party was cancelled by the resolution of the Leningrad Regional Committee of the CPSU on 27.10.1988.
