Genus. in 1941 in the suburbs of Almaty in a family of geologists. They returned to Leningrad in 1945. In 1965 she graduated from the Faculty of Geology of Leningrad State University. She studied at the graduate school of the Mining Institute. The famous literary critic Alexander Pavlovich Kvyatkovsky, author of the “Poetic Dictionary,” draws attention to her youthful poems. She was well acquainted with the unofficial poetic life of Leningrad, met Brodsky, and was friends with Alexei Khvostenko and Henri Volokhonsky.
Since 1971, she established creative and friendly connections in the Russian-speaking literary community of Tallinn. Listens to Lotman's lectures in Tartu, translates Estonian poets, including Maria Under. There she wrote the series “Tallinn Diaries”. Her only official creative evening took place in Tallinn, at the Estonian Writers' Union.
Since 1973, he has been trying to achieve publications in Moscow. B. Slutsky gives her an almost enthusiastic recommendation for the Smena magazine; in 1974, the magazine publishes her poems and declares her the laureate of the year. David Samoilov speaks very warmly about her. On July 4, 1978, a mass procession of youth, musicians and amateurs took place in Leningrad due to the cancellation of the Carlos Santana concert. I took part in it with young musician friends.
On August 28, 1979, the concert of the Aquarium group at the Mikhailovsky Castle was canceled, and those who came were detained. We ended up in the bullpen along with Viktor Rezunkov, Andrei Izyumsky, the leader of the group “Russians” Zhora Ordanovsky and others. There it was decided to write an appeal to the Leningrad City Executive Committee with an appeal, in order to avoid mass protests by young people, to open a rock club in the city. The rock club was created in 1981
In 1979, the first samizdat feminist magazine “Women and Russia” was published in Leningrad, in the creation and distribution of which she took part. The magazine was quickly seized by the KGB, but found its way to the West and was immediately translated into French, then Portuguese, Japanese and other languages. Some of the magazine's authors were expelled from the country, and all others were under surveillance. In the same 1979, together with the artist Gleb Bogomolov, she signed an appeal to the world community with an appeal to protect the Fund for the Rescue of the Collection of Georgy Mikhailov.
In November 1980, she was summoned to the police station and sentenced to 15 days “for beating vigilantes and insulting them with obscene words.” Summoned to the OVIR, she was asked to apply to travel to Israel using a false summons. While waiting for permission, life in Leningrad became unbearable due to surveillance, searches, provocations and threats. She disappeared to Tallinn, from there to Moscow, from Moscow to Tbilisi, then returned. At the beginning of May she was summoned to the OVIR, where she was informed that they could prepare to leave. 06/03/1983 hit by a car. There was no judicial investigation. My husband and children were not allowed to leave.
