He was well educated: he knew Greek, Latin, German, Hebrew, Yiddish, read French, and English. Since 1914 he was a member of the RSDLP. At the call of the party in 1918, he volunteered for the front. After the Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty, he returned to Irkutsk and worked in senior positions in the Central Union.
Arrested in November 1923 by the Irkutsk GPU under Articles 62, 68 of the Criminal Code as a member of the Communist Party of the Mensheviks, 04/04/1924 sentenced by the NKVD Administrative Commission. Expulsions are subject to deportation for 2 years. 04/02/1924, by resolution of the OSO at the Kogpu, he was deprived of the right to reside in Moscow, Leningrad and other cities with attachment to a specific place of residence.
After 1926, he was exiled to Veliky Ustyug, then to Krasnoborsk, Arkhangelsk region.
