Egorov Lev (Leonid) Mikhailovich

Genus. 02/26/1889 in the village of Opochensky Posad, Borovichi district, Novgorod province, in the family of the owner of an artel of dray drivers; Higher education: graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of St. Petersburg University, studied at the Petrograd Theological Academy. In 1919 he organized (together with his brother, Father Gury) the “Brotherhood of Alexander Nevsky”. Arrested on June 16, 1922 in Petrograd; sentenced by the Kogpu to deportation to the Orenburg province for 2 years. In 1924 the exile ended, he returned to Leningrad, in 1926 he was appointed rector of the Church of the Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God; arrested in the spring of 1927; 11/19/1927 released on his own recognizance; On November 10, 1928, the case was closed. Arrested again on 02/18/1932: sentenced by the visiting commission of the Kogpu on 03/22/1932 to 10 years in a labor camp; 04/18/1932 arrived at the “Chernaya Rechka” department of Siblag, worked in a mine in the village. Osinniki near Novokuznetsk; by the camp authorities he was transferred to a punishment cell for 2 years; then sentenced by the Troika of the plenipotentiary representative of the OGPU for the West Siberian Territory to an increase in the term of imprisonment by 2 years. At the end of March 1936 he was transferred from the isolation ward to the Akhpunsky department of Siblag, and worked in a mine. Sentenced by the Troika UNKVD of the West Siberian Territory on September 13, 1939 to VMN; executed on September 20, 1937. Relatives were informed that he died in the camp in the village. Osinniki in 1942 from a mining accident. In July 2003, he was canonized as a holy martyr and confessor of Russia by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
