In 1907-1912. - Member of the III State Duma from the Mogilev province. Since 1912 - Bishop of Minsk and Turov, since 1916 - Bishop of Astrakhan and Tsarevsky. In 1918 he was elevated to the rank of archbishop. Arrested on 06/07/1919 in Astrakhan. Shot on 07/06/1919.
