(1895 - 1981). Linguist (Finno-Ugric scholar), translator, Doctor of Philology, professor. Outstanding researcher of the Komi language and culture. In 1925 he graduated from Moscow University, then graduate school. In 1927 he received his PhD degree from the University of Budapest. In 1930-1933 he worked at Moscow State University and was one of the first teachers of the Komi Pedagogical Institute, which opened in 1932. He was arrested by the OGPU on January 14, 1933. Lytkin was accused of so-called "delu SOFIN" (Union for the Liberation of Finnish Peoples). A group case was falsified about “the creation of a unified Finno-Ugric federation in the separation of the Udmurt, Mari, Mordovian, Karelian, Komi-Zyryan autonomies from the USSR through an armed uprising.” Vasily Lytkin was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He was transported to the Far East, to Khabarovsk. He was released early due to "tests". He was able to return from the Far East only in 1938. He was forbidden to live in Moscow after the camp. Lived in the Moscow region, then in Ryazan. From 22.09. 1949 to 1959 Lytkin head of the Russian language department of the Ryazan Pedagogical Institute, professor. Lived in Ryazan on the street.
