Born on January 20, 1917 in the city of Omsk in a working-class family. Russian. He graduated from a seven-year school and a factory training school at a steam locomotive repair plant. He worked as a boilermaker in the assembly shop of a steam locomotive repair plant. Since 1934, he studied at the Omsk flying club of Osoaviakhim, graduated from the pilot and instructor departments. Since 1936 he worked as a flying club instructor pilot.
In April 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army. In June 1941 he graduated from the Ulyanovsk military flight school. Assigned to the position of instructor pilot at the Voronezh Military Aviation Pilot School.
In the battles of the Great Patriotic War from August 1942. He fought throughout the war as part of the 828th Assault Aviation Regiment on the Karelian Front, and from December 1944 until the end of the war - on the 2nd Belorussian Front. Participated in the Svir-Petrozavodsk, East Prussian, East Pomeranian, and Berlin offensive operations.
