Since 2007 - co-chairman (since 2012 - chairman) of the St. Petersburg branch of VOOPIiK. Since 2009 - Chairman of the Board of Founders of the National Research Center "Memorial" (St. Petersburg). Author of books, articles and television programs on the history of St. Petersburg.
