Genus. in 1877 in the city of Kremenets, Volyn province; German. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Electrotechnical Institute. From 1909 he worked as the head of the hydrophonic workshop of the Baltic Plant. In 1912, he invented a hydroacoustic station with a towed lenticular antenna, which provides the detection of ships and vessels and sound-like communication. Since 1917, he worked as the head of the Design Bureau of the Armaments Directorate of the Red Army. He designed and built an acoustic homing system for a torpedo boat on a firing ship. Developed an aircraft control system by radio, the first domestic autopilot AP-1 (1932). Prior to his arrest, he worked as the head of a special design group at Research Institute No. 12 of the NKOP. Arrested on 10/11/1938 as an agent of German intelligence, on whose instructions he carried out espionage and wrecking work in the defense industry of the USSR. Charged under article 58-6.58-7.58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. He died in the hospital of the Butyrka prison, while under investigation, on 02/05/1939. The case was closed on March 28, 1939 by a decision of the investigative unit of the NKVD. He was rehabilitated on 07/20/1990 by a decision of the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office.
