Arrested along with other family members on December 29, 1952. on charges of aiding Ukrainian nationalists. Convicted on February 19, 1953. Military Tribunal of the MGB troops of the Ternopil region under Art. 54-1a of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR for 25 years in a labor camp with loss of rights for 5 years, with confiscation of property. Kept in ITL LC. Released on August 15, 1956. by resolution of the Commission of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated August 14, 1956. (the term was reduced to the time actually served, with the conviction and loss of license expunged).
