After the revolution, he went over to the side of the Soviet government and was elected battalion adjutant. In 1919–1922 served in the Red Army, battalion commander. At the same time, he was interested in amateur theater performances. Since 1936 - actor at the Leningrad Drama Theater of Railway Transport.
