Genus. in 1878 p. Pitelino, Elatomsky district, Tambov province. in the family of a priest. In 1899 he graduated from the Tambov Theological Seminary, in 1903 - from the Kazan Theological Academy. Since 1918 - Bishop of Vinnitsa. He resolutely opposed the renovation movement. In 1923 he was arrested and deported to Vinnitsa. Arrested in Vinnitsa in 1923 for “harboring six officers and ordaining them as priests.” Exiled to Kharkov, in 1924 - outside Ukraine, to Moscow. In 1924 he was arrested and was imprisoned for 10 days. In 1925 he was arrested and during the investigation he was kept in Butyrka prison. Sentenced on 05/21/1926 by a Special Meeting at the Board of the OGPU of the USSR to 3 years in concentration camps, on charges of: “being an active participant in a church-monarchist group that set itself the goal of using the church to harm the Soviet government by concentrating an anti-Soviet element” (Article 62, 68 of the Criminal Code) RSFSR). He served his sentence in the Solovetsky special purpose camp. In 1928 he was exiled to the Ural region. On July 30, 1931, he was arrested in Obdorsk and sentenced to three years of exile in Kazakhstan. Died upon arrival at the place of exile on December 20, 1932.
