Genus. 06/01/1913 in Pushkino. Merchant seaman. In 1941, on the steamer “Kaganovich”, she sailed from a convoy of ships to Hamburg with a cargo of grain. When leaving the Gulf of Finland, the radio operator of the Swedish ship he encountered warned about the start of war, but the caravan continued on its way. On June 22, 1941, in Lübeck, the crews of the ships were sent to the concentration camp Ilag XIII,   Wulzburg near Weissenburg, where they were kept until the spring of 1945. Under the pretext of closing the camp, all prisoners of war were sent on foot to Dachau, but on the way they were met by American troops. Atarshikov and his fellow prisoners ended up in the American zone of occupation. After being transferred to Soviet troops, he was sent to Magadan. After liberation, returning to Leningrad was prohibited; he remained in Vladivostok. For the rest of his life he sailed as a captain with a “visa 2”, i.e. without the right to travel abroad. He was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the captain with the longest sailing experience in the world.
