Definition: Russian prose writer, translator, publicist, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Literary Russia (1989-1994). Executive Secretary of the Ryazan Writers' Organization of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR (in 1970 he refused to vote for the expulsion from the Writers' Union of A.I. Solzhenitsyn, who was a member of this writers' organization), member of the central audit commission of the USSR Writers' Union (1986-1991), Secretary of the Union's board writers of the RSFSR, secretary of the Writers' Union of Russia (1994), member of the board of the International Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, commission for State Prizes of the Russian Federation.
