Definition: squadron commander of the 948th assault aviation regiment of the 308th assault aviation division of the 3rd assault aviation corps of the 2nd air army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, major.

Born on August 21, 1923 in the village of Shugaevka, Lozovsky district, Kharkov region of Ukraine. He worked as a storekeeper at a flying club.
In the Red Army since 1940. In 1941 he graduated from pilot school. Participant of the Great Patriotic War since March 1943. By May 1945, Captain Svyatoshenko had flown 120 combat missions to bomb and attack enemy personnel and equipment.
On June 27, 1945, for the exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the front of the fight against the Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown, Captain Leonid Stepanovich Svyatoshenko was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
Since 1949, Major L. S. Svyatoshenko has been in reserve. Lived in Moscow. Died November 27, 1998.
