Susov Vadim Stepanovich

Born 12.08.1911 in Koshelevo, Gomel region. From 1930 a marker at the Krasny Putilovets plant in Leningrad, from 1932 a part-time student at VKTI. In 1934 he was transferred to the daytime department of the electrical-mechanical faculty of the Flight Research Institute. From 1937 a graduate student. At that time, the faculty party organizer was checking through the special department of the institute a rumor that Susov's parents were the owners of a mill and deprived of voting rights. In 1937 he completed his diploma project, but did not have time to defend it. By order of the institute dated 20.01.1938 he was expelled "for failure to attend classes." In fact, he was arrested on 21.11.1937 on charges of "being a member of a counter-revolutionary fascist group and being an active member of it, conducting anti-Soviet agitation, praising fascism in Germany and Hitler." He was sentenced by the decree of the Special Troika of the NKVD Directorate for the Leningrad Region on 03.12.1937 under Article 58-10 to 10 years in a labor camp.
