Genus. in 1892 in the Wenden district of the Livonia province, Latvian. From the age of 15 he was involved in revolutionary activities. Member of the party in 1907-1928. and in 1930-1935. He carried out revolutionary work in Latvia and the Urals, where he was sent into exile. In October 1917, he was an active participant in the establishment of Soviet power in Yekaterinburg (deputy chairman of the Military Revolutionary Committee). Member of the Yekaterinburg Provincial Committee. In 1920-1922 Secretary of the Ural Bureau of the Central Committee of the RCP (b). In 1922-1927. at party work in Petrograd. From 03/16/1921 to 03/27/1922 - member of the Central Committee of the RCP (b). From February 27 to March 27, 1922 - candidate member of the Organizing Bureau of the Central Committee (introduced according to a resolution of the Politburo). Delegate to the 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th Congresses of the RCP(b). In 1925 he joined the “new opposition”. In 1928 he was expelled from the party as an active Trotskyist. Restored in 1930. in 1928-1930 - Chairman of the Board of the Khabarovsk Regional Book Publishing House, in 1930-1931. - deputy Chairman of the Far Eastern Committee of the North. In 1931-1935. - Secretary of the Koryak District Committee and Executive Secretary of the Organizational Bureau of the Far Eastern Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks for the Koryak National District. Unemployed since 1935 (after repeated expulsion from the party). Lived in Moscow. Arrested on March 22, 1936. Released, arrested again on 04/07/1937, transferred to Khabarovsk. Sentenced to VMN. Shot on May 25, 1938. Rehabilitated 09/22/1960.
