Uporov Sergey Ilyich

Born in 1908 in Yekaterinburg; graduated from the Leningrad Naval School; no service. Long-distance captain. Arrested in Leningrad on September 28, 1940. Sentenced to 8 years in a labor camp. While imprisoned in Vorkuta, he worked on the construction of coal mines. After serving his sentence, he was sent into exile for life to Central Asia. Lived in Kokand, Uzbekistan. Released in August 1956. Rehabilitated by the Leningrad Military District Military Tribunal in March 1956. Returned to Leningrad. Until his retirement in 1968, he worked at Elektrosila. Full member of the Geographical Society of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
