Graduated from the Faculty of Geology of Leningrad State University; before that he studied at the oriental and historical faculties. On January 29, 1962, he was searched, as a result of which Brodsky's poems, Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago, Schulz's own poems and his notebooks were confiscated. On January 30 and 31, 1962, he was kept in the pre-trial detention center of the KGB Leningrad Region. Subsequently - a senior researcher at VSEGEI named after V.I. A.P. Karpinsky, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1995). Author of books on the history of St. Petersburg.
