Genus. in 1901 in St. Petersburg. He studied at VKHUTEMAS in the class of K. S. Petrov-Vodkin. In 1918-1920 studied with Vs. E. Meyerhold at the courses of mastery of stage productions (KURMASCEP). In 1932 he was arrested under Art. 58-10, exiled to Kursk. In 1936 he received permission to return to Leningrad. Repeated arrest - in September 1941. Sentenced to 10 (according to other sources, 5) years l / s under Art. 58-6. He served his sentence in Siblag (Krasnoyarsk Territory). Released in 1947. Rehabilitated in 1958.
