Genus. in 1886 in the town of Nikolsky, Velikoluksky district, Pskov province, in the family of a priest. He studied at the diocesan school and seminary, then at Yuryev University, from where he transferred to the Faculty of History and Philology of St. Petersburg University. In 1914–1917 lived in Mogilev with his wife and daughters, taught at a men's gymnasium. In 1918 - one of the organizers of the first Red Army courses (later - the school for Kremlin cadets). He moved to Opochka, where he taught Russian language and literature at the school named after. Herzen. He organized the Pushkin Society and studied local history. Arrest as a student of academician S.F. Platonov 07.11.1930. Sentenced by the “troika” of the OGPU of the Leningrad Military District on January 30, 1931 under Article 58-10 to 5 years in labor camp. In February 1931 he was transferred to Leningrad, to “Kresty”, then to the Solovetsky camps, to Popov Island. Conveyed to the Svir camps, he worked in the logging area. 09/17/1934 released at the end of his term, with working days counted. Settled in the Novgorod region. In 1943 he was hijacked to Germany, released from a concentration camp in 1945 by the Americans. In 1945–1946 he worked as a teacher in the village of Pola, Starorussky district, Novgorod region. Died in 1977. Rehabilitated on September 13, 1989.
