Genus. in 1874 in the town of Druya, Disna district, Vilna province; Belarusian; b/p; Graduated from St. Petersburg University and the Theological Academy. Byzantinist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, chief librarian of the Russian department of the Public Library. Lived in Leningrad, Gagarinskaya st., 1, apt. 5. He was arrested several times. At a special meeting at the OGPU on June 14, 1929, he was convicted under Art. Art. 58-4-6 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR for 3 years of labor camp. He served his sentence in Solovki. Arrested in the "Academic Case" on February 28, 1930. On August 8, 1931, the OGPU board convicted under Art. 58-11 for 5 years ITL. He served his sentence in Ukhtpechlag. In March 1933 he was released early. Arrested again on November 27, 1937. Commission of the NKVD and the USSR Prosecutor's Office 17.01. 1938 sentenced under Art. Art. 58-6-10-11 Criminal Code of the RSFSR to VMN. Shot in Leningrad on January 27, 1938. Rehabilitated by the Military Tribunal of the Leningrad Military District on August 30, 1958.
