Berezin Valentin Platonovich

Definition: Mining engineer, organizer and head of the mining industry of the North-East of the USSR, general director of the Union Production Association "Severovostokzoloto".

Born in Kirovabad in the family of an employee. He graduated from school in the city of Georgievsk in 1930, and worked as a teacher there. From 1932 to 1937 he studied at the Leningrad Mining Institute, after which, having concluded an agreement with Dalstroy, he arrived in Kolyma. In 1937–1938 – senior mining supervisor, head of the Berzin mine site, in 1938–1940. - head of mining operations, chief engineer, head of the Vodopyanov mine, in 1940 - chief engineer of the Chkalov mine. In 1940–1945 - in the Main Directorate of Dalstroy: first as a senior engineer of the production and technical department, then, from 1941, as the head of the mining and technical department, and from 1943 as the head of the production and technical department. In 1945–1946 headed the Chai-Uryinsky Mining Department, in 1946–1957. – production and technical department, was deputy chief engineer, head of technical department, deputy head of the Main Department of Dalstroy. In 1957–1965 – Deputy Chairman, First Deputy Chairman of the Magadan (since 1963 North-Eastern) Economic Council. In 1965–1971 - head, and since 1970 general director of the Severovostokzoloto association. In 1971–1975 worked in Moscow, as head of the Main Directorate of the Gold-Platinum and Diamond Industry (Glavzoloto) of the USSR MCM.
