Genus. in 1960 in Leningrad. Studied at the Financial and Economic Institute (did not graduate). He worked as a bookbinder-restorer at the State Public Library (now the Russian National Library). In 1983–1988 together with brothers A. and P. Krusanov, he published the magazine “Gastronomic Saturday”, in which he published poems and stories. Published in the magazines “Hours”, “Obvodny Kanal”, “Bornholm Island” and “Twilight”.
In 1990, the All-Union Youth Book Center in Moscow published his poetry book. According to V. Toporov, “the lyricism and visual mastery inherent in Berkovich’s poems suggests studying with Rilke and the German Expressionists.”
Since 1990 he has lived in Israel. Continues to publish in domestic publications.
