Born in 1873 in Odessa. He received his primary art education in Odessa and continued in Munich in 1895-1896. studied at the Academy of Arts in the workshop of I.E. Repina. Worked in the Hermitage. Arrested 06/05/1924. Sentenced by the OS Collegium of the OGPU on March 16, 1925 to 3 years in labor camp. On 01/04/26, the case was reviewed by the OS KOGPU, the sentence was replaced by deprivation of the right to reside in 6 settlements. Released in 1936. Left the USSR in 1928.
