Genus. in 1956 in the village Ochkhamuri, Kobuleti region of Georgia. In the 1980s he was imprisoned.
Between 1976 and 1982 studied at the Moscow Agricultural Institute, and in 1980-1982. - at the Moscow Law Institute. In 1987-1990 received his theological education at the Mtskheta Theological Seminary. In 1989 he was ordained a deacon and a priest. In 1995 elevated to the rank of archpriest.
In 1996, he became a monk, was elevated to the rank of archimandrite and consecrated bishop of the newly established Van See.
In 1999-2000 became chairman of the Department of Interaction with Prisoners of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
In 2004 he was elevated to the rank of archbishop.
