Vekilov Rahim bey Ali Agha oglu

Genus. in 1897 in the village. Salakhly, Gazakh district of Azerbaijan. He graduated from school in his native village, in 1916 - Baku Real School. Since 1917 - a member of the Musavat party, as well as the Muslim faction of the Transcaucasian Commissariat, the Transcaucasian Seim, from 05.26.1918 he worked as secretary of the National Council of Azerbaijan in Tiflis. On May 28, 1918, at a meeting of the National Council of Azerbaijan held in Tiflis, the Act of Independence of Azerbaijan was adopted. Rahim bey Vekilov was one of the 24 members of the National Council who voted for the adoption of this Act.According to the law of the National Council of Azerbaijan on the formation of the Parliament of Azerbaijan (November 19, 1918), it was included in the Parliament of the ADR. He represented the Musavat party in Parliament. He was elected Secretary of Parliament. On 12/14/1919 he represented the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Armenian-Azerbaijani conference.
After April 1923 he entered the Eastern Faculty of Baku State University. He was a member of the secret organization of the Musavat party, and carried out propaganda work among representatives of the intelligentsia. In June and October 1923 he was arrested for this activity, and in April 1924 he was exiled to the city of Yaroslavl. He was soon pardoned and returned to his homeland. In 1926 he was arrested again and on February 28, 1927 he was exiled to the north of the USSR for 8 years. Under his leadership, the underground group “Musavat” was created there.
In 1934 he returned to his homeland, but soon left for Tiflis, where he worked for several months, and from there to Borjomi for treatment. Upon returning from Tiflis, he stayed with close friends for some time. In 1934, unable to withstand the persecution of government agencies, he committed suicide.
