Genus. in 1892 in the village. Chovnitsa Volyn province. In 1910 he graduated from the Lutsk gymnasium with a gold medal , in 1914 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Kiev University with a first-degree diploma. In 1915-1918 - graduate student of the University, in

1920-1924 - acting Professor of the Department of Mathematics. In 1924 he defended his doctoral dissertation. Until 1938 - professor at Kyiv University and other universities in Kyiv. Head of the department of mathematical statistics at the Institute of Mathematics in Kyiv (since 1933). In 1929 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Arrested on February 21, 1938, on charges of belonging to a bourgeois-nationalist organization. Sentenced on September 23, 1938 by the visiting session of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR to 20 years in prison   with loss of rights for 5 years. Transferred to Kolyma. In 1938-1941 he worked as a miner at the Maldyak mine. In June 1941 he was released from work at the mine, February 23. 1942 sent for treatment. Died in custody on 03/09/1942. Rehabilitated in 1956. On March 20, 1992, he was restored to the rank of full member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
