Smirnov Alexander Pavlovich

Born in 1898 in the village of Tvorino , Yaroslavl district, Yaroslavl province; from a priest’s family; Russian;   higher education - graduated from Yaroslavl University in 1924; no p. Worked as a senior agricultural specialist at the Institute of Economics and Organization of Socialist Agriculture. Lived in Leningrad, Sotsialisticheskaya St., Bldg. 6, Apt. 5. Arrested on March 2, 1933 by the OGPU PP in the LVO. Sentenced on April 21, 1933 by a troika of the OGPU PP under Art. 58-7, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 5 years of imprisonment in a concentration camp. The sentence was replaced by exile to Zapsibkrai for 5 years. In exile - in   Tara, Omsk Region. Worked as an agronomist-planner in the Tara OKRZU (land administration). He was arrested on June 26, 1937 by the Tara OKRO of the NKVD Directorate for Omsk Region and accused of participating in an officer-rebel organization and counter-revolutionary agitation . Sentenced to capital punishment by a troika of the NKVD Directorate for Omsk Region on September 2, 1937. He was executed on September 7, 1937 in Tara. He was rehabilitated by the Leningrad City Court on April 24, 1959 for the 1933 case, and by the Criminal Cases Collegium of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR on April 29, 1990 for the 1937 case.

On March 27, 2016, a personal memorial sign was installed on house No. 6 on Socialisticheskaya Street in St. Petersburg in memory of A.P. Smirnov as part of the Last Address project.
