Professor at the Institute of Communist Party of the Soviet Union and Moscow State University, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1939), full member of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences (1945). Lived in Moscow. Arrested on August 8, 1930 in the "Academy of Sciences case". Sentenced by the OGPU Collegium on August 8, 1931 under Article 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 5 years of exile. Sentenced to Semipalatinsk. Released in 1933.
