In 1913, he accompanied the Norwegian traveler Fridtjof Nansen around the outskirts of Krasnoyarsk. He worked until 1917 in his father’s trading company and was a member of a joint-stock partnership of manufacturers. In 1918, he was drafted into the White Army and, not wanting to serve in it, returned 4 months later, discharged due to illness. He was not a member of secret officer organizations. From 1920 to 1922 he served in the Red Army, at the time of his arrest he worked as an accountant at the industrial base of the Hunting Union. November 30, 1930 arrested by the OGPU, the purpose of the arrest was to recruit him to work secretly for the OGPU through blackmail. Refusal resulted in reprisals. On March 25, 1930, he was again arrested on charges of “agitation against Soviet power.” He refused the charges. 08/16/1932 Troika's sentence to 3 years of exile in the Novosibirsk region. In 1937, I.P. Gadalov, together with his son Oleg, was arrested for the third time. They were sent to camps and shot there.
