Gelig Chaim Shaevich
Born in 1899 in the town of Verro, Livonia Governorate, Jewish, no name. From 1921 a student at the Kharkov Technological Institute, in 1922 he was transferred to the mechanical department of the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute. After graduating from the institute (1926) he was an engineer at the Putilov (Kirov Plant), before his arrest he was the chief designer of the steam turbine bureau. Lived in Leningrad (Tverskaya St., bldg. 16, apt. 87). Arrested on 02.06.1937. Sentenced by the resolution of the NKVD Commission and the Prosecutor of the USSR dated 13.01.1938 under Art. 58-6-7-9-11 to capital punishment. Shot on 18.01.1938. (According to the false death certificate issued to his relatives, he died in prison on 18.01.1942 from lobar pneumonia.) Rehabilitated by the Military Commission of the USSR Armed Forces on 28.11.1956.
