Born in Moscow on January 3, 1932. Mother is a teacher. Father is an engineer, repressed in 1949, rehabilitated in 1956. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (1955). She worked as a legal consultant and lawyer. Wrote judicial essays. Since 1963, she has been regularly published in various publications. She was a traveling correspondent for the magazine Yunost, the newspapers Izvestia, Literaturnaya Gazeta, and Komsomolskaya Pravda. Author of 8 books. Member of the USSR SP, USSR Union of Journalists, USSR Investigative Committee.
1989 - one of the organizers of the independent movement of writers "April".
1990 - conducted the first anti-fascist trial, which ended with the conviction of one of the leaders of the Memory organization Ostashvili under Art. 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “For inciting national hatred.”
1991 - member of the coordinating council of the Democratic Russia movement, organized the Moscow Anti-Fascist Center.
1993-1995 - Deputy of the State Duma of the FS "Choice of Russia" from the Northern District of Moscow.
Since 1995 - researcher at the Institute for the Economy in Transition, president of the public Holocaust Foundation.
2003 — Laureate of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia “Man of the Year 5762” award in the “Educational Activities” category.
Since 2007 - member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
