Otsup Nadezhda Avdeevna
Born in 1901 in Tsarskoye Selo; Jewish; graduated from the Mikhelson Gymnasium in Petrograd and completed 4 years of medical school; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) . In the early 1920s she married and gave birth to a daughter in 1923. In 1935 she graduated from the Institute of Red Professors and was sent to work in Sverdlovsk, where her husband was already working as director of the Sredne-Uralskaya State District Power Plant . She was arrested in 1937 and her husband was also arrested. The daughter was sent to Leningrad to live with her husband’s parents. She was sentenced to 5 years in a labor camp and transported to Kolyma. In 1942 she was transferred to Siblag, Novosibirsk Oblast. That same year her daughter died of starvation in besieged Leningrad. She was released in 1946. She moved to the Issyk station in Kazakhstan and worked as a doctor at a local hospital. In the orphanage she took in a boy to raise, whom she named Otsup Alexander Mikhailovich. She lived in subsidiary farm No. 2 Enbekshikazakh district of Alma-Ata region, worked as the head of the medical department of subsidiary farm No. 2 of the MGB of the Kazakh SSR. Arrested on 06.11.1948, sentenced on 09.02.1949 to exile to the Kyzyl-Orda region of the Kazakh SSR (according to other sources, arrested in 1947, sentenced to 6 months of imprisonment). Her adopted son was sent to Alma-Ata orphanage No. 2. After his release, she officially adopted the boy. Rehabilitated in 1956. In November 1958, she went to Leningrad, where she died of a heart attack.
