Stepanchenko Mikhail Konstantinovich
Head of Construction of the Sredne-Uralskaya State District Power Plant
Born in 1898 in the village of Ura-Tyuba, Samarkand region, Uzbekistan; Russian; higher education - graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Railways, engineer; member of the All-Union Communist Party (bolsheviks) since 1919. In 1930 he was appointed head of construction of the Sredne-Uralskaya State District Power Plant in Sverdlovsk. Lived in Sverdlovsk. Arrested on 23.10.1937 (according to other sources, 27.10.1937) as one of the "leaders of the counter-revolutionary Trotskyist organization in the Uralenergo system." His wife was also arrested. Sentenced on 09.08.1938 by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR under Articles 58-7, 17-58-8, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 15 years in a labor camp, followed by disqualification of rights for 5 years. He was transported to Norillag. Worked in the design bureau of the Norilsk Combine. In 1946, his sentence was reduced by 2.5 years for high-quality work. On 28.04.1950, his sentence ended and he remained in Norilsk at his previous job as a civilian employee. Rehabilitated on 10.09.1955 by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR.
