Svetlichnaya Nadezhda Alekseevna
Definition: Human rights activist, dissident, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine named after T.G. Shevchenko (1994). Awarded the Order of Princess Olga.

Genus. in 1936 in the village. Polovinkino, Starobelsky district, Lugansk region. In 1953 she entered the department of Ukrainian language and literature of the philological faculty of Kharkov State University. Since 1963 she lived in Kyiv, and since 1967 she began to actively engage in human rights activities.
She worked at Cold Storage Plant No. 2. Arrested on May 18, 1972. Sentenced by the Kyiv Regional Court on April 2, 1973 under Article 62 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 4 years in a penal colony. She served her sentence in Dubravlaga. In 1978 she left for the USA. She was an active member of the Foreign Representative Office of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group and editor-compiler of the “Bulletin of Repressions in Ukraine” (USA). In 1983-1994 she worked in the Ukrainian editorial office of Radio Liberty in New York. She died on August 8, 2006 in Irvington, New Jersey. According to the will, she was buried in Kyiv at the Baikovo cemetery.
