From 1921 he worked in the Political Directorate of the Army (PUR) in Moscow. He graduated from the Institute of Red Professorship and was assigned to Leningrad. In 1923-1924. - employee of the Military-Political Institute named after. Tolmacheva in Petrograd. In 1924-1926 - teacher of general history at the Military Technical Academy named after. F.E. Dzerzhinsky. In 1926-1929 - teacher at the Pedagogical Institute. Herzen, since 1929 – professor. Since 1926 - senior researcher at the Research Institute of Marxism. In 1931 – Deputy Director of the BAS of the USSR. In 1931 – associate professor at LGILI (since 1934 – LIFLI). Since 1932 – director of LGILI. In 1935 he was expelled from the CPSU(b). By a resolution of the Special Meeting of the NKVD of the USSR dated 02/05/1935 “for assisting the counter-revolutionary Zinoviev group” he was sentenced to deportation to Yakutsk. Arrested 08/22/1936. Sentenced by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on October 11, 1936 to military service. Rehabilitated by the resolution of the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court dated 03/07/1958 and by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on 06/06/1957.
