Damascene (Malyuta)
Definition: Archbishop of Kamenets-Podolsk, head of the Ukrainian Autonomous Orthodox Church in 1943-1944.

Genus. in 1903 in Chernivtsi (then part of Austria-Hungary). In 1920-1931 - Viceroy of the Pochaev Dormition Lavra.Since August 20, 1940 - Bishop of Zhitomir, since 1941 - Bishop of Chernivtsi and Khotyn as part of the Ukrainian Autonomous Orthodox Church, since 1943 - Bishop of Kamenets-Podolsk. In 1943-1944 - temporary manager of the Kremenets diocese. After the assassination of Metropolitan Alexy (Hromadsky) (May 1943), he was elected head of the Ukrainian Autonomous Orthodox Church. In 1944, during the evacuation from Kamenets-Podolsky, he was arrested by the Soviet military authorities and sent to a Siberian camp, where he died (according to the PSTGU database - in Omsk).
