Born into a Jewish family in Odessa. She worked as a military translator during the Spanish Civil War at the Soviet diplomatic mission, was wounded. She graduated from the philological faculty of Leningrad State University (1947). At the end of the 40s. was arrested on charges of "distributing anti-Soviet slanderous fabrications" and released only in 1954.Since 1955 she has been known as a writer. She was published in the magazines "New World", "Youth", "Star", "Spark", etc. She published several collections of short stories and novels. Author of memoirs of the Spanish Civil War.
