Ionin Ignatius Vyacheslavovich

Born in 1893 in Strelna, Krasnoselsky District, Leningrad Region; Russian; no name. Studied at the natural sciences department of the physics and mathematics faculty of St. Petersburg University in 1912-1916. In 1916 he volunteered for military service and graduated from the naval aviation officer school in Baku. In 1918-1919 he served in the Red Army. In 1919 he founded a school-colony for street children in the former Mikhailovka estate near Petrograd (since 1921 - Krasnye Zori), and was its director.   Lived in the village of Strelna, Krasnoselsky District, Leningrad Region. Arrested on September 30, 1937, charged under Article 58-7-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. Sentenced to capital punishment. As a pardon, the sentence was changed to 10 years in a labor camp by the Judicial Supervisory Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on December 16, 1937. On July 20, 1940, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the USSR requalified the sentence to Article 109. Held in the Central Asian Labor Camp. Died in custody on February 19, 1939. The case was destroyed in 1969. It was opened due to newly discovered circumstances in 1989. Rehabilitated in 1990.
