Definition: Soviet art historian and statesman. In 1939-1953 he was the scientific secretary of the committee for the Stalin Prizes. In 1954-1956. -Deputy Minister of Culture of the USSR. In 1956-1958 the permanent representative of the USSR to UNESCO. Since 1960 - Head of the Sector of Contemporary Foreign Art of the Institute of Art History. Doctor of Arts (1958). Active member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1954). Since 1966 - Vice-President of the Academy of Arts of the USSR.
