Markus Sergey Vladimirovich
Genus. in 1955 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, graduated from the philological school at Moscow State University, then from the history department of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. Lenin (1979). He was a student of the Orthodox priest and educator Alexander Men. He worked as an art critic in the Kolomenskoye museum (Moscow), in Zvenigorod, etc., art critic. Lived in Moscow. Arrested on January 9, 1984 for religious dissidence and anti-Soviet activities. Sentenced on July 18, 1984 under Art. 190-1 by 3 years of ITC. In custody in Tuva. In 2006, as a result of his stay in the center of Asia, he published the book “Tuva: A Dictionary of Culture” (Moscow, “Academic Project”). In 1990, on Radio Russia, for the first time in the history of domestic radio broadcasting, he founded a series of regular programs about religions, including, since 1991, “The Voice of Islam” (“Saut al-Islam”). He converted to Islam in 2000 with the name Jannat and performed the Hajj.
