He worked as deputy director of the Petropavlovsk State Industrial Enterprise in Kamchatka. Convicted for economic crime for 3 years. After liberation, he organized two construction departments under mining artels. In 1980 arrested, sentenced under Article 153 Part 1, 93-1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 15 years with confiscation of property, 5 years of exile and deprivation of the right to lead for 5 years. At the protest of the USSR Prosecutor General, the plenum of the USSR Supreme Court reduced the term to 12 years.
