Panov Valery (born Shulman)

Definition: Since 1964 - soloist of the ballet of the Theater. Kirov (Leningrad). 1969 - laureate of the Lenin Prize, 1970 - Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

Genus. in 1938 in Vitebsk. In 1958 he graduated from the Leningrad Choreographic School. In 1972 Together with his ballerina wife, he applied to leave for Israel and was immediately expelled from the Kirov Theater and arrested. I fought for leaving for 2 years. Because of him, all tours of the Kirov and Bolshoi theaters were cancelled. At this time, the governments of Israel, the USA, British Prime Minister Henry Wilson and many other famous Western artists came to his defense. In 1974 he was deported to Israel.
