Spassky Ivan Georgievich
Historian
Born 24.02.1904 in Nizhyn, Chernigov Governorate; higher education, no status. Graduated from the Pedagogical Institute in Nizhyn, then Leningrad State University. Worked in the museums of Nizhyn, Kharkov, Head of the Numismatics Section of the State Hermitage. Lived in Leningrad (Khalturin St., Bldg. 31, Apt. 18). Arrested on 31.09.1933, charged under Art. 58-10 and 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. Sentenced by the decision of the OGPU Collegium dated 29.03.1934 to 5 years in a labor camp. Imprisoned in the Karaganda camp, released in 1938. Lived in Cherepovets, worked as an artist in the theater. Mobilized in 1941, private in a sapper battalion. Demobilized after the end of the war, called to work at the State Hermitage Museum, where he worked until his retirement in the late 1980s. Rehabilitated by the Leningrad Military District on November 28, 1956. Died in 1991.
