Born 22.12.1904 in Minsk; Jewish; from a blue-collar background; secondary education (according to other sources, incomplete higher education); member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) in 1926–1933 (expelled “for desertion from party work and failure to obey party discipline”). Studied at the Leningrad Institute of Mechanical Engineering (did not graduate), engineer-technologist for cold metal processing. Lived in Leningrad (Fontanka River Embankment, bldg. 68, apt. 35). From 1925 he worked at the Stalin Plant, engineer-technologist. Arrested 11.04.1936; held in the Leningrad DPZ, attempted suicide. Sentenced 26.07.1936 by a special board of the Leningrad Regional Court under Art. 58-10, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, to 10 years' imprisonment and 5 years' disqualification. Imprisoned on Solovki (arrived at the Anzer camp on 12.11.1936). He refused to work and was transferred to a maximum-security column twice (in January and July 1937) for 6 months, and also served 5 days in solitary confinement. By the decree of the Special Troika of the Leningrad Regional Directorate of 09.10.1937, he was sentenced to capital punishment. He was executed on 02.11.1937 in the Sandormokh tract (Karelian ASSR). He was rehabilitated in the 1937 case by the decision of the Leningrad Regional Court on 13.03.1962; in the 1936 case - by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR on 11.04.1962.
