Born in 1905 in Stavropol-Kavkazskiy, in the family of an officer, nephew of the academician and Mongolian scholar S.A. Kozin; Russian; higher education: graduated from LIZHVYa in 1928, graduated from the Leningrad Evening Institute of Industrial Construction in 1936; no p. Lived in Leningrad, Gertsena St., Bldg. 46, Apt. 11. First arrested in 1927 for 2 months for participating in the religious and philosophical circle of S.A. Askoldov (Brotherhood of St. Seraphim of Sarov). In 1936 he lived in Leningrad, responsible executor for technical planning of the Lenpromstroy trust; arrested on 15.02.1936; sentenced by the Leningrad Regional Court on 10.06.1936 under Art. 58-10, 11 to 5 years in a correctional labor camp. He served his sentence in the Komi camps until 1941; upon his release, he settled in Novgorod. During the Great Patriotic War, he headed the occupation police of Novgorod, published articles in the Novgorod newspaper "For the Motherland" (including about repressed figures of Russian culture), and at the same time did not disdain personal participation in mass exterminations. At the end of the war, he ended up in Germany, lived near Kassel near Munich, where his writing career began. In 1950, he moved to the United States, where he became a professor at a number of universities. He died in Washington in 1991. He was rehabilitated in the 1936 case by the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office on 06.06.1995.
